MACC Trustee Leadership Conference
MACC held its annual Trustee Leadership Conference and Legislative Reception on Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Calvert House on State Circle, where community college boards as well as campus leaders and staff from across the state convened to share best practices in advocating for community colleges and ensuring student success.
This year's keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Guarasci, President of Wagner College, and member of the National Task Force on Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement, discussed A Crucible Moment: College Learning and Democracy’s Future.
The agenda also included a presentation by Kent Phillippe, Associate Vice President, Research & Student Success, American Association of Community Colleges, on "Meaningful Metrics for Community Colleges" as well as discussion group breakouts.
In addition, Rob Duston from the law firm Saul Ewing LLP provided a Higher Education Legal Update.
In the closing session, Dr. Guy Altieri, Chair of the Maryland Council of Community College Presidents, and MACC Executive Director Bernie Sadusky gave a presentation on the MACC 2013 Legislative Agenda.
Immediately following the conference, attendees greeted state legislators at MACC’s annual Legislative Reception.
